300+ miles of good riding by the time I got home. It was a good day of road blazin. I got to see Ken bust his arse on gravel. That was a highlight...

Ok, was about to ask what bike you got....figured from the above picture you went Kawi. Looks like from you signature it's a 250? Tell us a little more about it....or did you post about earlier and I missed it? Looks like a nice clean bike from what I can see over Ken's.

Dang, just watched the video.....I guess that's why you wear those shoulder pad thingys. I hadn't worn any of those since high school football. I guess that could probably hurt an old man......I think I'll stick to 4 wheels. I like having a roll cage and harness for protection.
Looks like you faired ok Ken. Sore the next day? Hope you didn't get banged up too bad.

2006 KLX250S. 2200 miles when I purchased it from a Miltary guy that is in Special Ops headed back to Afghanistan. It's a great bike with more than enough power for me. Will cruise at 75mph with no problem. It's a little tall but once onboard it gives a good ride.
I will admit -- riding on gravel roads on 2 wheels takes some balance. I spun a 180 once but kept my balance bringing it to a stop. Four wheels is much easier. I did really enjoy being able to ride anywhere since it has Tag's. It'll be a blast in WV.
I rode it to Lenoir to meet Ken. Rode around 100 miles of gravel with a good lunch. Blowing Rock was busy. First time I saw that Winston Cup pic where the dude has his junk at the other guy's head. Finished our group ride at 5 or so. I was home by 7:30 and got to see some nice country. Great Ride with no trailer needed.

Was a little stiff in the shoulder and wrist this morning but besides a quarter size spot of road rash from some gravel that snuck through my forearm pad I'm fine. I always tell everyone, I crash too much on 2 wheels to not where gear! Without it that marble/gravel road would have left me bloody for sure!
Wearing good gear is often the difference between getting up and laughing about it or digging out the first aid kit...or worse!

I wore Carhart boots and Jean's with a T-shirt. I don't PLAN on falling. LOL (until I do fall)

Glad y'all had a good ride. Randy....whooh, that sounds like kind of a close call....I'm thinking I'd want some type of protection....I guess that is some of the risk you take for the freedom of leaving from your driveway on 2 wheels though. Glad you weren't too banged up Ken!

Im much more scared of people in cars. I avoid highways with the hope that any accident is at lower speed. My wife now says I can have a street bike but I'm leary of too much road riding that requires highways. She would enjoy the rides but I prefer knowing I can take a ditch and only have to worry about myself.
With that said the Sunday ride was sweet! Very little traffic from Pinnacle to Lenior. Also some great backroads.

So here is the entire day of riding (at lease what I had on the Gopro) boiled down. If you have nothing better to do and are willing to waste 5 1/2 minutes of your life that you'll never get back, take a look. Hope you enjoy it 'cause I sure did! (Here's the link because I hate the way the forum adds that garbage at the side of youtube clips )

Dang Ken is that the music you was playing through them headphones on the ride? I much prefer the sound of my Kawi humming at 7k rpms... I ordered a new Seat Concepts seat today. My arse is finally got it's feeling back. For motorcross a piece of hard plastic with 1/4" foam is fine but for this old man I need some cushion to sit on all day. I got funny looks going home when I hit small towns and stood up through the 35mph zones.

I had a hell of a time though trying to install it with a regular staple gun. Use a nuematic one if you can. Makes it easy peasy. I've got one you can borrow if you don't have one.

Might take you up on borrowing the pnuematic stapler. I've got 2 upholstery shops near the house. I'm hoping one will install it for $20 or so...

Looks like Randy is going to be on that "Road Rash" diet where he leaves 2 lbs of flesh on the road.

I've got the flesh to spare Bob.... I do wear a helmet to protect the 8 hairs left on my head.

149 miles to Hilltop from home via Backroads. Not too bad. That will be one of my weekends...
