Wow. The trains out there are a constant flow from/to port in LA. I’m shocked they didn’t look for the opposite direction train.
I can see this easily happening.

It was on the tracks we paralleled to Topock66

I can imagine a scenario. There have to be two sets of tracks and the 2nd trains approach is obscured by the first one. Seeing the first train departing you start to cross and get then you get creamed by the approaching train. Did they have the descending barricades?
