My goodness, I so much enjoyed our trip to Matewan again. We rode three days. First day was parts of the Devil Anse trail system between Buffalo Mountain and Rockhouse trail systems. Bull dozers and excavators were blazing new trails. They were trying to complete the trails before the May 30th grand opening. On day two, we went to see and feed the horses again. People brought carrots and apples. On day three we rode Buffalo Mountain trails to Williamson, WV and back. There were 17 people on 15 ATVs and SxSs this year. We pretty much know each others names because mostly the same people keep coming to this annual event. Below are some pictures. Group picture Doc Best showing us how to ride down a major hill Megan almost tipping over on a major downhill Goose! Kevin on his Honda Rincon Doc Best and Tom Dave Hatfield and Tom in front of a mine entrance David. He's a mechanical engineer out of Raleigh, NC Joe Our darling Megan. She made this trip several years. She is now in college and is a Volleyball All-American! Joe and his brother Jeff Lenny Group picture Lenny and his wife Joy Ted Dave Hatfield giving one of his stories about the legendary Hatfield-McCoy feud Calvin and his son. Calvin is 80 years old and drove the whole way Jim on his brand new Can-Am Commander XT Coast Guard Lt Colonel Charley next to his Polaris ATV Dave Hatfield at Starters restaurant in Williamson, WV

There is a shit storm on the HM forum. I posted the newspaper article yesterday that said it was open and it was promptly deleted. It appears that the guy who talked to the newspaper may have not been authorized to do so. Browning Fork Trailhouse in Gilbert posted the article originally along with the map. The map has created quite a controversy. Some guys who stayed and Browning Fork rode the whole thing on Thursday.

That makes sense since the Browning Fork Trailhouse was mentioned on Rzrforum. www.rzrforums.net/eastern-riding-locations/279281-hatfield-mccoy-finally-connect-rockhouse-buffalo-trails.htmlHatfield McCoy Finally Connect Rockhouse and Buffalo Trails It has finally happened. The Rockhouse Trail has been linked to the Buffalo Mountain Trail!! Although the grand opening is not scheduled until Memorial Day, the Devil Anse Trail System opened to the public on Wednesday April 27. Points of interest along the Devil Anse include the Devil Anse Tunnel, The Devil Anse Cemetery, Ellison Hatfield Cemetery, and an Overlook. The Devil Anse Tunnel is a unique feature of the new trail system is a tunnel that has been incorporated into the trail stating, The system itself has a tunnel underneath the King Coal Highway which is really unusual. The grand opening for the Devil Anse Trail System has been scheduled for Memorial Day, May 30. But it is open now. They did the final punch through on Wednesday and they opened it instantly. On Memorial Day they are going to have a grand opening and ribbon cutting. The Devil Anse Trail is the third trail system that has opened in Mingo County. This has been more than ten years in the making. It is complicated. It is a pretty cool thing. Now, Mingo County has three trail systems. Don't forget that Browning Fork Trailhouse is located in a hotspot! We are the closest
