I need to replace all four wheel bearings on my Sportsman 850. Got 1800 miles out of the original ones…sounds like that is pretty good for a Polaris! Anyhow; is there a preferred brand and place to buy them?

Charlie - I would get (4) New Can Am Wheel bearings attached to a New Outlander or Commander. These would be my preferred brand and in my experience Can AM Bearings last at least 5,000 miles.
You know I am Joking but am sure there will be a lot of advise on what Brand since most Polaris owners in the club have replaced theirs at lease once......

I think its just a result of canam folks trying to reinact driving miss daisy.

odd we both have over 1800 miles on ours and only 1 bad bearing and really not that bad.. moose, boss, caltric all make reliable bearings. ps. don't forget the locktite 603 adhesive. also don't forget about randy's post about pivot works. I have used them and they are good as well, and they have lifetime warranty. I believe they are the same part number as rzr 900

Pivot works, All Balls, Boss Bearing and OEM. I use no other. I do think Moose is same as All Balls.
Once you get a Polaris sxs you learn about bearings. I never replaced a bearing on any other machine I had. Most I sold with over 5000 miles.

The local dealer thought they could replace the bearings under warranty...nope, turned out Polaris said no. Not sure the five year extended warranty was worth the money. Turns out almost everything is a wear item.
So if I stick with Polaris, do I need to invest in a shop press?

I suppose you could hammer them out as they are not a press fit. (603 locktite) is what secures them in besides the lockring.

So if I asked if I needed a press, the answer would be “not really”! But do I want one…oh yea. And this is about the best excuse I can come up with to get the purchase past the wife.
I might need to bite the bullet and get OEM from the dealer; I need to be all put back together in time for Matewan.

My dealer did bearings for me under warranty at about 1800 miles. They've always been pretty good to me but make it up on my concrete sling'n buddy....

Allen, it probably won't make you feel much better but on the rzrforum everyone refers to all Ride Now locations as... Ride Never, Ride Later....
So it's not just that location you go to.

All fixed! Ended up putting a set of All Balls in. But man, what a bag-of-worms worms…starting to develop a love/hate relationship with Polaris. Started the job thinking I was replacing a couple of wheel bearings; ended up replacing the bearings, bushings, a ball joint and a steering knuckle. It may be the smoothest riding ATV on the market, but parts sure due wear out fast! I ended up getting a 12 ton press from harbor freight...not sure how I ever got along with out it.
