I arrived at Hilltop Sun 11/27 and rode the 28th and 29th. On the 28th it started as Bob, Tyler, Jason, Scott, Wiley (Both Sr and Jr), and myself. Tyler was leading and we turned left off Hilltop road and Bob hit a stump. Broke his lower a-arm off. Crazy damage. Tyler rescued Bob's machine with his incredible driving of his Blazer (on street tires!). (Note Bob owes Tyler a car wash). After taking Bob back to camp we proceeded to Pineville where we are a fantastic lunch at Ole Joses. Great meal! Got back to camp around 730 pm. On the 29th the Wiley's left for home and Tyler and Scott moved Tyler's trailer. Scott and myself headed to Welch via creek trail. Weather was perfect - 60f with Sunny skies. We rode u the view and hit a few other trails. Only issue was a tore the bead on my new rear tire. 6" tear. Luckily I carry a skinny spare. I finished the day on the great skinny tire. I bet I've purchased 50 tires in 8 years. The carnage continues. Scott just replaced the plugs in his rear tire. Anyway another great day of riding. Felt like April. Attachments:

In first post I meant Tyler and Jason moved the trailer. Scott couldn't do both - move trailer and ride with me to Welch.

I have removed all of the damaged stuff and ordered new parts. Will post pics tomorrow. Basically I hit a 8" x 15" tall stump. Destroyed lower right A-arm, bent axle and pulled both ends out of the CV joints, ripped the ball out of the upper ball joint, slightly bent the tie rod. The good news is that the upper A-arm was not damaged other than ball joint. The hub is made from cast steel and not aluminum so it had no damage. Since axle pulled out of CV joint there was no damage to bearing. I was able to straighten the Tie rod on the machine. Tie rod end is forged steel with a ball joint, unbelievable strong, will probably never have to replace a tie rod end. Ordered lower A-arm, two ball joints, and axle for $400. Not bad when you see the pics. A big thanks to Tyler, Randy, Jason, Scott, Wiley, and Wiley. I rode 5 minutes and 1 mile that day. The stump was on the new logging road that has replaced the "Gopher" trail behind Hilltop.

Sorry to hear that Bob. This is my kind of luck sometimes. I remember getting to Hilltop one time several years ago. That's when I had a Polaris Sportsman 700 ATV. I had gone through rain that morning. When I got to Hilltop, everything was frozen. I parked my truck with the ATV on the trailer. Other people were waiting on me, so I was hurrying as much as I could. I unstrapped the ATV from the trailer, lowered the tailgate, and started up the ATV. When I tried to shift from Park into Reverse, the gear shifter wouldn't budge. Water had seeped into the gear shift selector and had frozen. I ran the ATV for 30 minutes while everybody waited. I swear the temperature was getting colder. I then tried to force the gear shift into Reverse. That's when I broke the shifter. It literally broke. I was so pissed. Somebody had a pair of vice grips. He sprayed a bunch of WD-40 which freed it up. He then put the vice grips on the knob for the shifter. So that's how I shifted gears that day...with vice grips hanging off the side. At least I rode that day.

My lesson from this weekend is no matter what carry a spare. My rear bumper was loose so I strapped it to hold it on. Debated leaving the spare on the trailer Tuesday. Glad I didn't since it would be almost impossible to plug a bead rip.
That makes 3 times using the spare.

Randy forgot to mention about Tyler getting his Blazer stuck in a mud hole after loading bob's rzr on the trailer and Wiley and i hooked our winch's up and pulled him out. Was a fun ride!

I wasn't sure how to list that one. His blazer was only stuck due to the trailer axle dragging over a hill. I'm impressed the Michelin highway tires did all they did rescuing Bob's Rzr.

As always, had a great time on the mountain. Glad Bobs mishap didn't cost a fortune. I got to save 2 vehicles this trip. Scott's 10k lb truck from taking out Jason's camper and bobs new ride. Iif i would of held my momentum through that pit with the blazer it would have gone right through. I was worried about the razer bouncing off the trailer so I took it pretty easy. I got the vacation house settled on Tuesday. Wednesday, Jason, Scott, and I went to the old abandoned mine above keystone. Great views from up there. Also had great views of Scott crapping his pants on some of the obstacles I drug him through. Here are Jason's pics of the rzr rescue: goo.gl/photos/hcWr19E1UdVJ84rm8

I'm thinking maybe a new nickname for Bob is in order. Maybe... 1 mile Bob or Stumpy?
