I should have grimaced a little more when putting that patch on the tube. It made it 120 miles before going flat again. I was approx 20 miles from home. Tried a quick inflate but my small slime pump is apparently one time use -- it would run but put out minimal air. Could not ride it since it spun on the wheel. Debated ziptieing the tire on but decided to do the dreaded call. I called my wife and she came with the trailer. I'm guessing something is still in the tire or I have a metal burr in there somewhere. I'll check it out when my Michilin UHD tube comes in...
It was a great ride otherwise.
I will admit that this experience really makes me think more about what I carry and where I ride. I'm now thinking riding the motorcycle to WV is somewhat risky. Changing a tube in the dark would really be bad....

I have a normal tube as a spare. The Ultra Heavy Duty tubes are huge and would make a hard to pack spare. I also need to pack a Bicycle pump. The powered slime brand pump was a bust...
Most likely I did not get whatever out of my tire. I could not feel the thorn (or whatever) but it's probably there still.
I really need to teach my daughter how to hook up and pull a trailer. Her moaning to get me is OK. The wife was definitely not happy about having to come get me.

I've seen that look on Randy's face before, it's usually early in the morning at Hilltop.

Hey -- anyone see any poison ivy in that flower bed that has the inner tubes? I picked up the railroad tie from there. I now have a red rash between some fingers. I'm guessing some if those green flowers were poison ivy....
That's my luck....

This Pisguah Forest area may be worth a weekend trip at some point. There's plenty of riding in the area and it would be cheap.... Not exactly how sure this rental is... www.vrbo.com/198602#comments

Looks interesting. I'd also like to check out this area. Supposed to be great riding up here. The guy that owns this place is on ADV and has even been know to guide riders around the area. He's even having a get together up there next weekend. Couple of the guys from the Charlotte group are going. Pretty cheap and i think he give 10% or 20% discount on cabin rates to ADV riders. www.cabinsatnantahala.com/There might even be some single track in there but not sure if my Hoverround will fit. May have to leave the saddlebags at home...

Now that is a trail. Oh sh1t!!! comes to my mind. That definitely fits my 2 second rule. If I'm not out of that spot in 2 seconds I would have a panic attack!
Remonds me of a youtibe video several years ago where a trail disappeared for several feet and the riders were basically riding on a 6" ledge for about 6 feet. Too scary for me....

Finally took the tube out. The patch came off -- there was no additional hole. The patch was 95% off and the 1/8" hole bacame a 1/2" rip.

New tire and Michelin Ultra Heavy Duty Tube came in today. Wow -- that is one heck of a tube. Tube is 4mm thick and weighs over 3 lbs. Seemed like it filled the inside of the tire full before adding air! I've got some Ride-On tire sealer/balancer coming this week and I will add that also. I ditched the powered pump and will carry a bicycle pump -- it works great since I tried it on the tire. The tube came in a box larger than a shoe box and the box was full! Gotta see it to believe it. Here's a pic of the tube box beside a Krispe Kreme dz box. That tube is definitely worth the $36 I paid. The claim is these tubes do not rip and are thick enough that they rarely pinch flat or wear in the rim. Supposedly the Ride-On sealant works well for holes 1/8" or less. I hope so since if I rush I "might" be able to change a tube in an hour. That's too much work -- especially if I am hungry or it's getting dark.
