Michael, Tom, Explorer, Kris, and 4 year old Jacob rode this weekend. We rode Pocahontas on Friday and Mullens on Sat.
Friday
Went riding this weekend and found the new Pocahontas Trail Entrance and figured out the connector. They had about 1/2 of the signs up and we ran into the rangers that were putting them up. I begged for a map but they did not even have one just a large sheet with the trails on it, they did not think the official map was finished yet. The connector was not marked yet. I did manage to get most of the HMP trails tracked and I numbered the ones the ones I could get.
Trail Head and Trail Entrance:
As everyone has said the TH is the old brick building and they have made a large gravel parking lot but no pull through. The trail entrance is about 2/3 of the way to Hill Billy Hideaway. It is a brand new trail they cut into the mountain and is very nice. The new Trail Entrance connects to the trail that has the Antenna's on it, it connects a couple of hundred yards south of the Antenna's. Also, they have blocked the trail going down to the old gray church. You do have to drive down that windy road my all the houses and church. I doubt those people will be happy when the little sh!ts on the sports go screaming by. Below are pictures.
HMP to HMIR Connector:
I am pretty sure the connector is WMG rd from Belcher Cemetery up WMG Rd and then it takes the little connector down to HMIR 13/14. There were no numbers or signs but we did see the following.
Getting on WMG from Belcher Cemetery we saw "No Entry" signs to the left and blank signs to the right.
Along WMG going North there were "No Entry" signs at all of the Outlaw trail connections and blank signs every few hundred yards along WMG.
When you get to the cut off to the left that goes to HMIR 13/14 there is a "No Entry" sign on WMG just past the cut off.
Looking down on the cut off there was another HM sign post with no number.
I am surprised that they have you going that far on WMG Rd. There is going to be a lot of idiots sliding off the side of thatrace track road.
Saturday
We went to Mullens. Some of the trails were a little tight for the RZR's. The trail from Hwy10 to HMPC-11 was really over grown and it was difficult to find a path at times. If we did not know it was there we would probably have turned around.
The gate near the beginning was locked but Michael found a way around it to the left.
