I am doing some maintenance on my Outlander and was wandering what everybody is using for the gearbox and differential oil. I was considering using Royal Purple gear oil. 75W-90 in the front diff and 75W-140 for the rear diff/gearbox.

I used Mobil 1 75w-90 Gear oil in my diffs and gearbox on my Outlanders. Note that you will need to measure the quantity to put in the rear since Can-am made that one impossible to check the quantity. If you fill it to the fill hole it will pop the bellows due to pressure.
Royal Purple is good if you prefer it. I'm a fan of Mobil 1. My Can-am's only received Mobil 1 0w-40 in the engine. That weight is the European formula oil and is superior to the other weights.

My Can-am's only received Mobil 1 0w-40 in the engine. That weight is the European formula oil and is superior to the other weights. One of the publications from popo said 0w-40 synthetic for my rzr. I went to buy oil at the dealership and now it's like a secret. No specs listed on the popo oil. Anyway, I used to use my brand of preference Amsoil in some cases, Rotella in the diesel, Castrol on smaller high revving engines....etc. Anyway, popo (of course) wants you to use their oil, and pretty much all the rzr forums guy are sticking hard and fast to that. I've read the same about using Yamalube in the Rhino's because of the friction modifiers (or lack there of) for the clutch. Anyway, I figure mine is under warranty, I figure I should stick with their maintenance schedule. As far as the diff's go, I'd say just use a quality gear oil. If you think you'll run the risk of dunking it and getting milky fluid causing you to have to change it more often, stick with less expensive stuff since you'll be changing it more often. If you just trail riding, I'm sure any of the synthetics and/or Royal Purple will do a fine job.
