Ken, I have several tap/die sets if you still need one. I think going to 9/16 fine thread may be your next size up and get virgin metal if you have room on the shoulder of the opening.

Thanks Everyone for the offers and ideas. I originally thought that I might get off easy with the oversized 12mm drain plug. It felt pretty tight and didn't seem to leak however, I let it sit overnight and when I came out to inspect it the following morning.....well, you get the picture. So, on to plan "B" FedEx to the rescue! After reading everything I could find on the topic this seemed like the way to go, and of course it wasn't cheap, especially when you add in the overnight rush shipping. Anyway, just got done installing it and all looks well. Its super easy to do and looks good. I did put it in with some red loctite although the instructions say its not necessary so I'm going to let that cure overnight and them put oil in it in the morning. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed this works and it doesn't leak. Nothing like cutting it close, huh? ;D BTW - if it does leak, you may want to let me ride in the back next week otherwise it may give new meaning to the term "Moab Slick-Rock" ! LOL! See everyone at the meeting tonight!

Final Update - All is well in the world again! TimeSert is the Bomb. Highly recommended by this knucklehead, wannabe mechanic! Put the stock drain plug and washer back in this morning and torqued it to factory specs (with a torque wrench - novel idea, huh?) Filled her up and ran it for a while....no leaks yet. We'll see how it holds up but looks good so far! Utah here we come!

Great cause I don't want no Cop's pulling us over and making us clean up a line of oil down the middle of the highway.

Torque wrench - I think I have one of those. A 3 foot piece of pipe that fits over the ratchet handle.
