One front shock on my 09 Grizz has oil on the lower shaft. Does this mean I should replace it? Or both front shocks? Who has the best price for oem parts?

If you are going to replace them might as well upgrade.

more than likely a seal has gone out , don't belive stock shocks are servicable , they do have the same amout of bumps on them so replacing both might be a smart move . After market might give you a better price and a better ride . There is a fella on WVASXS riders called Hot rod Rhino , he is a super ATV dealer and might be able to help you on a stock replacments or another type of shock to replace them( his name is James ) . Good luck .

I know I've heard positive reviews on the Walker Evans shocks that some have replaced OEM SxS shocks with. Not sure if they make any for atv's, but they were a good bit less expensive than Elka's but very positive reviews. Also, for even a better value, many here have run the Progressive brand shocks on their Rhino's....again, not sure if there are compatable models for the atv's or not. Randy and Daryl have both run the Progressives I believe.
If you are happy with the stock ride of your atv, then nothing wrong with doing a pair of the ebay links Randy posted for OEM. I believe I'd replace both fronts just incase they changed the spring/rebound rate at some point. I don't think I'd want to have different rebound rates, especially on unfamiliar Western trails.
Should be an easy repair to replace though.
Good luck David!

Matt - David weighs 150 lbs and rides 15 mph. He does not need WER shocks. He would probably be fine with 3 sponges held together by a string.
LOL -- I crack myself up. ;D

It has heavier lift springs from Highlifter/EPI on it though which aids oem spring rate shocks.

Not brutal -- just having fun. David can hang with anyone in TTB. I've seen him ride the rough stuff and just smile afterwards. But -- the 3 sponges and string would probably work. I remember weighing 150 lbs when I was 14 yrs old....

Randy, I wish that I still weighed 150. I like to ride 15 mph so I can pick up the Canam and Polaris parts for my friends! What kind of sponges should I get. Do they have special preloads? Do they have two stage sponges? I am going to check with Triad Powersports for OEM shocks with the 20% TTB discount.

Do they have two stage sponges?Actually yes -- I would recommend a firm synthetic sponge at the top with two Natural Coral soft sponges at the bottom.

David -- maybe you could use some of the "cushions" you use at the office -- I understand they are soft and bouncy -- yet still firm -- and you know how to install those --
You would probably have the coolest front rack bounce of any bike on the trails!!!!
