Better yet, don't tell me, help me do it. Then I will know how and won't have to bug you again. So who's up for teaching me how to do this? And what tools do I need? I can load it up and come to your place or whatever is easiest. I have a race on Sunday, Aug. 13th so hope to get it done before then. If not, I will miss this one and it will be your fault!!! LOL Is the guilt trip thing working??? LOL Thanks, Sonya

Do you have the pads , check the front discs for damage , it should be smooth as a counter top . If you do not have any rotor damge it would probably only take 30min to an hour to change the pads , It would help if you borught it to the house .

Brakes should be faily easy Sonja . Take you wheel off , there should be two bolts holding the caliper to the bike it self with the pads inside of it . lift the caliper off of the rotor make a note of which pad is on which side as it can make a differece . . pads might have a pin in the top , some do some don't , save the clip if on is not provided in you new brakes . Take a C clamp and push the Plunger ( the part in the caliper that is pushing on the brake pads it's self , and push it in till it stops( this should happen easily with a C clamp , make sure that it goes down level , dont force it , but it will take pressure to move it ) . Don't hit the brake leaver from this point till you are done . put the new pads in the order that they came out . hang the caliper back on the rotor and bolt it in place . Look on the back side of you caliper and look for a set screw to see if it has a centering screw , of so , center the pads to the rotor , pull brake lever and make sure you have no leaks and handle should goto the handle bar the first time the second pull it should start getting tension , after that it should have full pressure as before you started . repeat on the other side . After both brakes are done , check fluid level , check at slow speed for braking power , make sure all is well before a High speed stop is nessary . It sounds compicated , but is really simple , just take you time , walk away if nessary and come back . Good luck . Drew this is also a good time to check steering as you are all in it right there , look for slack in the steering arms , slack in bearings , tow in and out , ETC........

Sonya, if you and Drew can't work out a time this week I'll be happy to help you as well. As Drew has said it's pretty simple. Wiley

You guys are too funny! That is not simple to me. Drew, pads will be in on Weds. at Maxspeed in K'ville. Can't pick up until Thursday due to my work schedule so I'm going to call TPS in the morning as it's closer to where I work downtown in GSBO so I can grab them on my lunch hour. I'll let you know when I get them and we can work out an evening or sometime on Saturday to try to get these done. Don't think I will make the race on Sunday anyway - just giving you guys a hard time!!! I would rather try the first time with one of you guys watching me do it than try solo and go out and have no brakes and kill myself. Wiley will use you as a backup if Drew and I can't get together soon. Thanks guys!!

HUGE thanks to Drew and my son Aidan. Drew told Aidan what to do step by step and my son jumped in and I never got to turn a wrench. Drew went behind and tightened some of Aidan's bolts and taught him some neat little tips about the proper way to do things. Drew also loosened the really hard bolts and decompressed the calipers which would have sent me screaming like a girl to get help!!! LOL I'm pretty impressed that a 12 year old can do this so I'm gonna try next time myself if Aidan will let me!!! LOL Thanks again Drew for your time and expertise. And a big thanks to Penny and Toby for letting me and Aidan borrow their Dad for a little while. Sonya

no problem , I have had lots of help over the years , some from people that do not even ride atv's anymore . Aidan has the want to learn and that is a big plus , I was the same way when I was a kid , I used to watch a neighbor who would allways let me help or do what I could from pulling motors to just tunning up stuff . Getting him a manual on his bike or yours might help , he seemed very comfortable around tools , It might also be time to get him his own set of tools , I got mine when I was 13 , 200 plus mechanics set from sears for christmas , I still have it today( 24 years later ) and it was the set he was using .

Thanks for helping her Drew. ;D
Btw, I love the way you got Aidan to do it.. Great idea... and the best way to learn... hands on experence it the best way.
good idea about getting him tools... I know I had a hard time wanting to do things when I was young because all the house tools were a worn out hammer and a rusty screw driver and a adjustable wrench.
