Do you guys ever ride the Evarts, KY trails anymore? I think it's called Black Mountain ORV now. I rode with some of you there maybe 13-14 years ago and was considering making another trip there with some friends this year. Just curious if it's worth the trip. When I was last there I remember enjoying the trip but left thinking it wasn't nearly as good as WV. We had a guide that took us on trails outside of the park to the highest point in KY which helped but I seem to remember if you stayed inside the park then it could all be seen in a couple days easily. It's entertaining watching the big rock bouncers there, I do remember that.
Any feedback would be appreciated, not real sure when this trip would be yet. Just thinking ahead to a possible trip somewhere other than southern WV that isn't too terribly far away.
I guess while I am at it any feedback on Windrock in TN would also be appreciated. I have never been there.

Evarts and Windrock along with Brimstone are still good.
When was last time you have been in WV? I’m amazed at how much new is still found.

I was actually in WV a week ago, and yes things definitely change a lot up there especially since I started riding there in 2004. Just thinking of going to a few different places, may check out some other areas of WV as well but would rather do that with someone that knows the area already.

For those of you who do not know Dwayne, he is the one who found the Sophia Tunnels. He and his riding buddy Jason also found Barkers Creek and the swimming hole on it. I was riding with them one day back in 2007 when they were trying to find a way to Beckley. We went down Barkers and made it to Sophia and gas in Beckley mainly by road. On the way back we were stopped on the side of the road in front of the mine where the the second tunnel comes out. We were discussing which way to go when Dwayne said "That looks like a tunnel entrance". We went through the water into the second tunnel, we then proceeded to the first tunnel. It had a big pile of timbers in the middle that we had to ride up and over. We then were in about a foot of black water with the steep wet incline to get out of the tunnel. See attached pic. We could not get traction to ride up it so Dwayne and I climbed up it and out the other side. We took Jason's winch cable with us thinking we could hold it and he could winch up the incline. Wrong, there is no way we could hold that cable. We then got a bunch of straps connected and found a tree we could anchor to. Jason winched up and then he winched me and Dwayne up. Burning Rock did not exist at that time so we made our way back the way that we all take now. A little history lesson.

Hard to believe that was 13 years ago! That was well before your maps existed. Before we owned a GPS we used to come to a fork in the trail and take logs/sticks/etc. and configure them in the shape of an arrow pointing us in the direction to get back to camp. We got lost many times.
We also went for a swim in that Barkers Creek hole in late March/early April one year. Talk about cold water!

Hello Dwayne, still good riding in Evarts, couple of days on the park and plenty of miles off park. If you want some off park tracks let me know.

I loved that first tunnel. After Dwayne, Jason, and Bob went to Sophia it became a staple trip. Great find.
Dwayne what you riding now? Back then it was a Griz.

I have a 2013 RZR Jagged X but now that I am starting to ride more often again I am itching for an upgrade :-) Just can't decide what it's going to be. The Jagged X only has 1700 miles on it and does everything that I ask and I love the extra room for cargo but the newer machines have a nicer suspension and I really don't need the 4 seater because my wife and son never got into riding. Not to mention the power of the new machines although my riding speed has slowed a little over the years so that's not too big of a deal.
I really like everything about the new Pro XP now that they have fixed the clutch, at least everything but the price! May end up settling for a used XP Turbo, not sure yet.
Wiley, I'll definitely take you up on that if we decide to go. Are the tracks you mention on Bob's maps?
