Took these pictures a couple of weeks ago when I saw it Forsyth Motorsports. Definitely wide stance. Otherwise the cargo area and passenger compartment don't show any appreciable differnence that I can discern. I was hoping it had a little larger/deeper bed and maybe a little wider. Looks like you still sit shoulder to shoulder...brokeback side by side style. Wide: Side by side of a RZR S to the left (good comparison on width): Cargo: Seating area: Dash: Large mouth bass....er, um, I mean front of the XP:

I think if I were shopping for a 2 seater like this and given the $4-$5k difference in price, I believe I'd just go with the RZR S. Ground clearance on the XP would be nice, but the S has good power as is and since there isn't a huge cargo or seating size difference, I'm not sure it is worth it. Now I haven't seen one on the trail yet so I reserve the right to change my mind. It looks good with the ground clearance for sure.

At this point for the money I would go with an S over the XP also. But trust me when I say that XP is amazing on the trail. I have had the chance to ride with a couple of them and it is a GREAT package (except the popo part)

Would like to see one on the trail. I'm sure with the ground clearance, power and width, it would be an awesome package. S's are pretty impressive too.
Hard to justify 15g's for a SxS though when you can go buy a nice used truck or car for that.
I'm glad it is out though. Should make some S's a little cheaper in the used market.
If they made a XP-4........ look out!

speed cost money , how fast you want to go........ How fast can you go on a trail? Not that fast. Speed can also get you in trouble. As long as I can spin the rear tires and still have some fun, I'm good. I guess the caviat would be if you were in the dunes. I doubt you can ever have enough power in the sand.

Actually I was in the Yamaha store. Just happened to run accross a popo. Thought everyone would like to see it up close and with a comparison to another RZR right beside it. I did say that if they made the XP in a 4 seater, I'd have a hard time ignoring it! Having reasonable ground clearance in a factory 4 seater would be sweet!

I had a chance to drive one of the new XP 900's in the woods this last weekend and all I can say is DAMN. That thing is fast, really fast. I know its only 100cc different from the 800 rzr but to actually drive it is a HUGE difference. AMAZING power!!!!

I can tell you from experience Randy that the XP doesn't feel wide to me. Daryl got to drive Simoniz's RZR S as well so he should be able to give a good comparison. I love my XP and I would do it again any day.......the power is so awesome and so smooth.

Like Derrick said, I drove both and Simoniz has his S dialed in with power steering and revalved fox shocks. The XP was bone stock and off the showroom floor. The shocks really weren't adjusted right and he told me that before I ever drove it. Both felt pretty wide to me but you have to remember I am used to a Rhino with slightly offset wheels. I think both would be very manageable after a short time riding and not hard to get used to. But I can't say it enough about the power..........wow

Would love to take a ride in both the XP and the S. Both seem to be excellent machines. Not that the standard RZR isn't, just like the additional suspension travel of the S and XP.

After riding in the XP , the ride was better than my LE and the suspension was way to tight on the XP that we rode .... Daryl and I needed a day each with that thing just to get past the WoW factor and get to the real driving , I just wanted to do a burn out and see if we could do a wheelie , seriously I think a power wheelie is not out of the question for that machine , and a burn out a reality .

Do we know if this engine is a bored out 800 or an entirely new casting and new cam, head, etc? I take it that if you 2 are that impressed that it would make an awesome machine. BTW, I'm getting over the 4 seat thing. At some point Elizabeth is not going to want to come and it will be just me or Walllace and me.

The 900 is all new. 4 seats sounds like a good idea but only if Wallace wants to take friends. Counting on a wife to go riding is normally not a good reason. My wife could find 100's of reasons why she could not on any particular weekend.

Like Randy said, the XP is a completely new machine, including the engine. With that being said, don't test drive one unless you are ready to seal the deal. They are a whole different animal that leaves you with permagrin!

They are a whole different animal that leaves you with permagrin! I've heard as much! I've seen one at Forsyth Motorsports a couple months ago (see above) so I'm guessing dealers have them to sell now. That's a huge check mark in Popo's favor. Am I right about that or do you have to order one at this point? It is certainly possible that the one I saw was owned by someone although it had the golf cart like flip book marketing brochure on the steering wheel.
