Rode around the Hilltop area Friday 2/18 to Sunday 2/20. A great 3 days of riding one of the premier ATV destinations in North America.
Friday Feb 18 Ken, Mark, Greg, Joseph, and myself left out of Ashland resort around 11:30am. We slowly made our way to Welch and topped off our tanks at the Exxon near the Sterling. Got there around 1pm. We then headed up the trail behind the bowling alley and made it maybe 1/2 way to Horse Racers House on Bob's map. Fun ride other than one incident mentioned in the members only section. Ended up with around 100 miles that day.
Saturday Feb 19 it was a larger group -- Ken, Greg, Joseph, Lonnie, Tom, Joe P, Allen, Bob, Carver and myself. We headed to Sophia and explored a few new trails. I led and Carver was behind me in the morning -- Carver always said "Let's try it" on any new trail. Bob followed me in the evening and always said "Nope not that way". What a difference. Lesson learned is the leader needs an aggressive follower behind him. Also we made one wrong turn but the positive is that it added 20 great miles to the trip. I could have pulled out my printed map but am glad I did not. I enjoyed seeing some areas 3 times that day!! Ended up being a Great Ride with no issues... Little over 100 miles that day also...
Sunday 2/20 Lonnie led. We explored some new areas that are not far from our normal riding between the HM Indian Ridge trails and Stairsteps. Amazes me that to find new you just need to turn when it looks like a trail. That explains why the Hilltop area is the Premier ATV destination in North America
Here's my few pics:
