HM has grades Soggy Bottom into a highway, and rumor has it that they will take part of the creek trail and possibly the trail from Hilltop to Stairs. Also the Ballfield trail is closed, I know someone who got a ticket on it Friday. Supposedly getting ready for the Coalfield Expressway.

Can they take all the creek trail? Just curious, what kind of ticket did they get?

From the DNR for riding on a not marked trail. Several people have said a couple of gates have gone up.

Iโve seen tickets mentioned on Facebook. If I was to receive ticket on an outlaw trail I would definitely go to court. Pretty sure judge would throw out.
Sounds like a rouge DNR agent. WV definitely would not want to ticket or disencourage outlaw trails. Visitors would drop dramatically.

There is a trail cut behind the N gas pump near where the soggy bottom trail started.

Took the Soggy Bottom trail. It takes you to Wagon Wheel/Crumpler Road. Its about 4.5 miles. There are two turnoffs onto the road. The one to the right is easy. The one straight ahead has a very steep 10 foot drop. I have attached the track. It is a green track. Still soggy and muddy in places, but easy. Larry Attachments:Soggy Bottom.gpx (69.97 KB)

Very unfortunate that Hatfield keeps taking more and more trails. It is much better than losing them to a hunting club but I really hate how they ruin all the trails with dozers. If I was forced to ride nothing but Hatfield trails the entire time in WV it would dramatically cut down on my WV trips.
Also sounds like the highway is going to destroy some really good trails over near the ballfield trail. Also very unfortunate, good riding in that area.
