Looks like we need to plan a trip to Elkhorn City, Kentucky! Anybody been there or about?

Beach sand in Eastern KY. Put it on the list of places to go. I’m definitely up for a long weekend trip every 6 weeks.
I also want a weekend in Oceana and Ghent but both of those are close. Also East Lynn.

Shouldn't be to hard to find location, trail looks well traveled in the video.
Maybe early to mid Sept?

Maybe October since we travel to Sanderson in early August. I’d like to do a more local after Sanderson. Maybe Oceana for weekend.

October works! I've messaged the Jeremy guy in the video to see if he has tracks or directions.

I enjoyed that video. I'd like to go, 225 miles one-way will be less than Matewan and Sanderson. Oct. 24 is my only conflict right now.

So Jeremy gave me a link for the trail but he uses Ride Command. Hopefully Bob can convert it? Looks like 63 miles to the Silica lookout and 97 miles total. I think he took some roads because the Ride Command says he averaged 28mph. bnc.lt/RFZm/ozBP4bz7thb

I downloaded the file and cleaned it up. It is 86 miles of which I estimate 65 miles of paved road, about 1 mile through an old mining area, and what looks like a lot of dirt roads. Here is link to cleaned track. Silica Rock Track

Well that sounds disappointing.
Not an issue since East Lynn or other can fill the October timing.

Thanks Bob. I wonder if there are other trails in the area.
