Hello all, just joined the site. Stopped a neighbor riding his RZR900 past my house and he mentioned the TriadTrailblazers. So here I am. I’m new to NC but have been riding for about 10 years. HMT is a twice a year trip with about 10 other guys from upstate NY, PA and VA. I’m just outside of Raleigh and would love to connect with anyone that knows of places to ride close to home, or otherwise. I ride RZR 800 two seater. I call it the billy goat cuz it’ll climb and never gets stuck.

Welcome! Several of us have places in WV and somebody is probably riding every weekend. There are some up there now. Some of us are heading to AZ next week to ride the Peace Trail.
Who is your neighbor?

It's me Bob, I was out riding in the neighborhood testing my clutch kit weights before the AZ trip. He just moved in about 8 houses up the street from me. He came out to the road and stopped me to say hi. Nice guy, told him about the group and that he was welcome to join us on a weekend ride anytime.

Hello Fellas. Thanks for posting and thank you Scott for answering The Who’s your neighbor question. I got a good memory it’s just a bit short. Maybe a some point I can hook up with a few members and get a ride in. A bunch of my friends and I have a trip to WV planned for early May but one of them saw a post from Gary Lacy that the trails are closed. You guys able to confirm this?

Closes as of last night. I suspect they will only be closed a couple of weeks.

Confirmed that Hatfield-McCoy trails are closed. Rode yesterday and got word at Ashland Resort and Hilltop Escape.

Berndawg, Welcome. Keep an eye on the forum for upcoming rides. The other trails are still available. Cabin rentals are still open but you need to bring your own food for now. We rode 120+ mi Fri and only a little of it was H/M.

Reports know that the state police are stopping riders on the outlaws. Not sure if that’s true or not but Ashland just shut down and referenced it as well.

This is from Ashland Resorts FB page.
We are deeply saddened to announce that Ashland Resort will be closing effective today, March 21, 2020 due to WV Governor Jim Justice’s order shutting down of all Hatfield-McCoy Trails and the enforcement by state police in preventing riding on all trails in the area, along with our desire to protect the health of our employees and guests. Ashland Resort will reopen as soon as the trails reopen. Right now we do not know when that date will be.

Has anyone heard anything on Outlaw Trails during the shutdown? Specifically what type of enforcement measures are being enacted? We’ve got a place in southern McDowell Co and are/were planning on going the first weekend in May and are trying to make a determination.

I’ve got a house up there. Gotta mow. Also replaced brakes on X3

Randy - How many miles did you go on the brakes pads? Do you also grease the hubs since you have to take the calipers off anyway?

I only greased hubs once. That was at 800 miles.
I get 500 to 700 miles off a set of pads at most. X3s eat brake pads. I don’t even think I use them much.

Hmmm, I've gone 1,800 miles on my Can-Am Maverick Sport. I checked my brake pads after doing almost 800 miles of the Arizona Peace Trail. I still have about a third of the brake pads left. I haven't greased my hubs yet. I was going to wait until I changed my brake pads to grease the hubs. I'm thinking I need to go ahead and grease the hubs without waiting on the brake pads to "wear" themselves out.

The X3 wears out inner pad fast and uneven. I can’t check unless I take off.
