A new law has overwhelmingly passed the WV legislature and is awaiting governors signature. The imposes a $1,000 fine for leaving the HM trails and riding on private property. The overall impact is not understood at this time but FB is lit up with it.

I read the bill and sounded like we can still ride outlaw trails just can't ride and trails posted No Entry off the H&M trails.

I interpreted the same as Scott. As long as I’m not riding H&M trails then there’s no change.
“Each trail user shall at all times remain within and on a designated and marked trail while within the Hatfield-McCoy Recreation Area”
I wonder what they define as “within the HM area”. Seems like I just need to prove that Im not riding HM area and never intended to ride that area.

Everybody seems to think it is mostly the trails off of Pocahontas. The mine wanted to close all trails and this may have been a compromise.

The mine also had to delay operations waiting for trail detour. Time is money and I’m sure they hated the wait.
Mining is crazy now. Last weekend I found out the 8 miles bypass is gone. Mining went right through it.
