Coal Canyon is definitely NOT challenging. I’ve ridden every inch of the trail several times. It’s a very nice ride and I like it a lot, but IMO it’s the easiest trail on the Spearhead system. I’ve only ridden about half of the new Ridgeview trails, but it was also a nice ride and a little more of a challenge. Stone Mountain in Pennington Gap is the most challenging of the Spearhead trails, with all trails being either blue or black. The last (and only) time I rode over there, every trail should have been black.

Stone Mountain sounds great to me. I hate boring smooth trails.

Yeah, Coal Canyon is an old reclaimed mountaintop strip mine. Lots of “out in the open” trails that you can really get some speed on-less wooded trails than any other on the Spearhead system. I read the FB posts, kind of baffling, and I was there last in mid November.
