I noticed my front Maverick driver side wheel had a little play (maybe 1/8") so I decided to check out bearings, bushings, and ball joints. My bearings were dry but tight. I replaced them with more SKFs anyway. I also installed some Delrin bushings (original Canam were only slightly worn). I am now debating ball joints.
New ball joints are tight and hard to move by hand. The ones on my Maverick have no up/down play but move easy. Is moving easy a reason to replace?

To me it comes down to personal preference. I myself like to get every last bit of life out of equipment before replacing. You may want to just replace it now just because it's apart now and don't won't to work on it in the near future. I myself replace them when they have a visible back/forth movement. Heck I've had slop in both atv tierods but put it off till I upgrade to 12mm tierods. To me the slop is not severe enough and has been that way for over 1000 miles.

I generally agree but on the Rzr XP 900 I had the issues with one thing wearing and being hidden until it caused another failure. This could bite pretty hard. When bearings wore the wheel would stay true due to brake/caliper holding rotor straight. It would quickly then wear the pads til they rattled out (why no pin holding?) then break the caliper. Scary stuff. Only machine I ever had with fail to danger issues.
I'll likely replace all front ball joints though it's not really needed. Since it's tore down it's just a few additional minutes. I'm very happy with Can-am's bearing size choices - SKF/Timken are easily available. The others were good other than dry/rusty - might have been able to grease but decided not to try since tore apart to inspect.

Good choice replacing them since your going to Moab. Keep an old one with you for a spare, might need it out there!

I will have new spares. Made the mistake of ordering from Performance Powersports. They have great low prices but take forever to deliver. I knew that but forgot that they were that slow - the last spare belt I ordered took 6 weeks. I placed a second order for Ball Joints from ATVOutfitters so I will receive this week.

Only 2000 miles. I installed a Torq Locker front diff for true 4wd. Noticed the front drivers side wheel had a slight amount of play. I would have ignored but my last PoPo made me scared of stuff. I checked bearing and it was dry from creeks etc. That's when I decided to do all of the work. If I'm changing the bearing might as well do everything else.
Note that I'm not doing anything to back end. I'm sure bearings are dry but it's still very tight....
