I've finallee got settled down with a drink after an uneventful drive home from Beckley. 5 hours, 40 minutes including a stop for gas. They have opened the bypass around Goldsboro making WV 8 minutes closer than it ues to be. Why was I coming home from Beckley you may ask? We'll get back to that, or you'll figure it out! ;D
Definatelee ride report worthy, James and Roger met up with me at Burning Rock to ride Friday and Saturday. You see, I had this bug up my asse about 'knowing' how to get to or from the Wheel from The Rock or Sophia. Lots of people are doing it, and I was feeling out of touch. LOL It will take a month to write this report but I'll start with this.
As agreed upon James and I arrived Burning Rock 8 of the clock. I had told Roger 8-8.30. Anybody know where this is heading yet?
Right on time at about 9.17, Roger pulls in. He had good stories like always. Tanker on fire in front of him on the interstate, dumbasses at Wal-Mart, etc.
I explained my goal to James and we took off toward somewhere. There is a neat ATV / UTV / ROV expressway that runs close to Hwy 16 that is a blast. It took us through and a bit past Helen. There were 2) GoPro's running most of the time and JAmes stopped us here so he could get a photo of a well house in the valley. He also took a moment to dance a jig. I think we may end of seeing that (see GoPro above), as I was watching it happen on Rogers cell phone. A live feed as it were.
At any rate, this is a landmark I will never forget. A key one at that!
I have track but let me just say we rode gravel and trail with waist high grass and small saplins to this landmark, again a memorable one.
Through hill and dale, and briars and spiders we continued. At one time Roger's Terex looked well outfitted for hunting, being good and camoflauged with greenery.
This is just about the coolest sign I have ever seen.
We ended up riding 8 miles of pavement, yet a scenic road complete with creek, and arrived here.
I now think I know how to get there from here, or to here from there as the case may be.
Then we took off toward Camp Creek. It was only lunch time. My drinks empty so I gotta run. As Arnold said, I'll be back...
