Thoroughly enjoyed this weekend’s ATV rides. We did an evening ride Friday to the Stairsteps with new club riders Rich and his son Brandon from Concord, NC. This was their first time to Ashland and Hilltop. Later Friday night, new club members Tim and his son Dillon from Danville, VA arrived at Hilltop. They spent the night with David (Doc) B. On Saturday, Tom D took us to the Pocahontas Exhibition mine. The tour inside the mine was great. The temperature was 87 outside and 65 inside. What a difference. On Sunday, Doc took us to Tiny’s on the Creek Trail. Has anyone every counted the number of creek crossings to Tiny’s? Would you believe there are 19 of them? We came back via the Bypass trail.
One word of caution. Someone got hurt on trail 90. Rich and son Brandon were staying at Ashland. When we arrived at Ashland Saturday evening, an ambulance with lights came by us. Carver O went into the Ashland store and got some information about what happened. We didn’t get all the details but from we got, someone got hurt real bad on black trail 90 between Ashland and Hilltop. The last time I was on trail 90, I just barely made it. For those of you, who want to take a safer route to or from Hilltop, use these directions. These trails are side by side friendly as well.

Trail 12 is across the street from the Ashland store. When you get to trail 50, hang a right. When you get to trail 52, turn right. At trail 87 turn left. Etc, etc. Trails 91, 98, and 93 are very rocky, but are not too steep.
