Well we had a couple days of good riding. On the 26th we went to Northfork and today we went to Beckley by the way of the old tunnels. No breakdowns or tip overs. Larry did get stuck in a pretty good mud hole today.

Greg did an outstanding job of leading the way yesterday on the Outlaw and Hatfield/McCoy Trails to Northfork. There was some excellent muddy trails from the recent rains. Another good ride today led by Larry and Allen. Below is an updated picture of the church near the tunnel.

I still have never seen the tunnels or the church, I feel like I am missing out.
Looks like you guys had a great time.

Wish I was there. I love riding over toward Beckley/Burning Rock. Do any exploring over there? I heard Burning Rock is adding trails currently...

Randy, I agree about Beckley area. As we drove through the area there was all kinds of side trails to go on.
Will take a weekend next year and stay and ride in Beckley.

I'm up for that Carver! I will work M-Th during Summer so a long weekend would let us explore that area well...

It sounds like we need to start planning a spring ride.

Saturday night someone stole three SxS, one RZR and two TERYX. Looks like they were rolled down from the cabins to a trailer. The owner of the RZR was very upset, he heard nothing. I'll call tomorrow to see if the manager of the campground knows anything more.

Sounds like they need to start gating the campground after a certain time. Isn't this the second time in recent weeks that this has happened?

I was eating breakfast at the Hilltop Restaurant this morning, when a guy came in. The left side of his face was all bruised up. He sat near my table. I asked him what happened. That’s when I noticed his left eye was not pointing in the same direction when he (at least his right eye) looked at me. He said that as he crested a hill on his ATV, he ran into a jeep. They helicoptered him out and he spent the night and next day in the hospital. The doctors said that he had severed his optic nerve and that he would never see out of that eye again. After pausing to take in the enormity of his accident, I asked him if was wearing a helmet. He said, “No, but I wish I had.”

That is a heck of a story Larry. That's awful. Makes me really like my helmet...

We are going to need to start chaining up our machines at Hilltop at night.

David -- we need to find some sort of alarm system for atv's which will sound off - maybe a motion alarm, or tied to the gears or steering -- could be as simple as flipping a hidden switch so we do not need a remote -- and anyone who would try to move it would never know there was an alarm until it was too late ---
Anyone have any thought on that ---

Make sure you have your insurance or that your plan is paid up. Markel plans are pretty darned affordable and worth the piece of mind. They cover theft.

Don't over think this. Just get a cable or large chain and wrap it through the tires and frame. These thieves are not going to spend a lot of time cutting stuff off.
Also, as was said on another site, these thieves are probably members of most of these sites and will read all of your post.

I'm not worried abut Hilltop. Ashland has the ease of most parking/cabins being uphill. They can roll silently to the bottom of the hill and then load them. Hilltop will be much harder. MUCH MUCH Harder. No easy in and out.
