Arrived at Rangeley, ME. Trailered to Strong, ME. Rode 62 miles on Sunday, June 22, 2019. Did a loop to Bold Top Overlook and the town of Kingfield. All kinds of terrain. A few too many bolders. A beaver dam lake that almost drowned us. Kevin B's socks got wet. Ate dinner at Beal's General Store.
Rode 64 miles today. Went to Stratton/Flagstaff and back. The highlight of the day was Quill Hill. See the short video below. We had planned to do a loop, but we were told that both our primary and alternate routes were blocked. So we doubled back on the same trails. Today, the USA women national soccer team played Spain in the 2019 World Cup. When we walked into the restaurant for lunch in Stratton, all the TVs were tuned to the game. The restaurant was a seafood restaurant. A couple of us ordered lobster. Now realize, I'm a huge soccer fan. Here we are, we rode half a day on the trails, we watching soccer, and we're eating lobster. Life couldn't be any better. It just can't. Today was awesome!!!

Trailered to Rev It Up Yahmaha Dealership which is just out of town of Rangeley, ME. Rode 80 miles. Ate lunch at a country store in Phillips, ME and found Sauge Mountain Lookout with the help of Kevin and Scooter. It rained just enough to stop any dust today.

We took Wednesday off from riding. We drove our automobiles to an overlook called "Height of Land". The view was breathtaking. It takes you several minutes to take in the entire view, plus there were historical reading panels to explain the areas features. Kevin B secured us a boat so we did a 2 hour excursion on Rangeley Lake. Scooter and his son went on a float plane aerial tour of the region.
On Thursday, we trailered to Arnold Trailhead which is about 20 miles from where we are staying. Went 81 miles. Our destination was a hidden overlooked that I had been to in the past. Unfortunately, we came upon "No ATV" signs. We're beginning to see more and more of these signs in Maine. Access to trails are becoming fewer and fewer. The trails we did go on were varied. One minute we were on smooth dirt roads. The next minute we were large rocks and boulders that slowed us down to 3 miles per hour. The next minute we were in mud bogs with large rocks hitting our skid plates. All fun stuff. We barely made it in time to a restaurant called "Trails End". The place is so popular locally that we had to make reservations beforehand. That's where we "barely made it comes in". I made the reservation for 5:00pm. We did a little too much exploring and had to high tail it to the restaurant like speedy mcgreedy to get there on time. We were a little bit late, but it seemed they didn't mind. Ate a prime rib that took up they whole plate. Got back to the cabin, took a shower and literally collapsed in the bed. I keep saying it can't get any better than this...but it did.
We trailered to Bemis Parking today, about 20 miles from Rangeley. We started out on a trail I've been on before. We did side trips to two overlooks. At the 12.6 mile mark, we came upon a "No ATVs" sign. The trail kept going, but we turned around because of the sign. Its getting more and more like that in Maine. Land owners are prohiting people on ATVs and SxS from riding through their property. We turned around and rode dirt road for about 8 miles, then found more trails. We arrive at our destination for the day which is Coos Canyon. Well, that's what the call it. Its more like a small gorge with people playing in it. We even saw couple of people snorkeling while they let the water take them down the stream. The lone fly fishing guy didn't much care for the snorkelers. From there, we took maybe a couple of miles of trail. From there it was 36 miles of gravel and paved road back. ATVs were allowed on the road, but its not what we came to Maine to ride. Tomorrow we head home. The distance is right at 1,000 miles. Its a lot shorter than Utah or Colorado, but its still a ways.
