Sorry that you are having all those problems Mike. Good job in tearing into and figuring out what to fix..
I think you are the only one that I have heard of that has had final drive problems like that. Early Sportsmans due have the chains in the final drive and and no problems.
I have been pricing Can-Am ATV's and they are pricey..... Not sure they if they are more reliable. Seems like there has been allot of problems with them too.
Only Can-Am that was really good was Randy's first one that he owned. That one was excellent --- fastest and most powerful machine on the trail I think.

The 2005 to 2009 Can-AMs were great. That 800 engine (not R) was a powerhouse with instant throttle response and crazy strong engine braking. Most of those are still on trails. Kens old one is at 9000 miles or so with very little done to it.
The next gen of Can-and had electronics issues. Hopefully they are over that now.

Knocking on wood, so far, with around 3,000 miles on it, the 2013 has had no electrical issues. Had a seal go bad between the engine and transmission but was covered under warranty. The seats are definitely not as comfy as the old ones, miss my old seat! The 2005 - 2009 were definitely built better with better quality parts but so far I'm happy with the '13.

I really like some Rotax power. I'm back into it again. Attachments:

I'm too old for ATVs now. I do at times wish I had kept my Rincon. It's hard to beat explorin on an ATV. Good explorin would have me lifting my machine to turn it around or get out of a tight spot.

so received my parts last night installed new chain cleaned up the case and buttoned it all back up and let the rtv set up. this morning filled with oil and reinstalled. test drove perfect. shifts very easily and no weird noise. I accelerated as hard as it would go many times and heard not one pop. so happy and pretty cheap fix all and all. Maybe this will be the end of my little blog.... btw I compared the new chain to old and old was almost 1/2" longer.

I'm impressed. I've never tore that far into a gearbox.
