The Nuvi 500 or 550 is waterproof and requires no box. That's what I have used for the last year and 1/2. Works great. Not as feature packed as my previous Colorado but does what I need. I like it so much that when I sold my Outlander Ltd I purchased another Nuvi 500 (once came with the Ltd).
Several club members are using cheaper Nuvi's like the 1300. They work good but must be protected from water. I have not seen one fail so it looks like they take the vibration fine.

Do you have to open the Aqua box Micheal to save tracks or make changes ? Thanks Randy , Can you run a power cord to it to run off of the machine and it still be waterproof ... Where I plan to put it the thing will be pretty exposed , but plan to keep it in the truck to use around town when I am not riding .. Also , the maps that Bob make will load to this , will it hold all of them or do you have to choose then load that area ( enough memory I guess is what I am asking )

The aqua box comes with a tiny slot that you punch out to run the cable through. Frankly the only way you would get water into the housing through the cable port would be to hold it under water for a long time.

Get the 1450, the bigger the better. It will be much nicer in your truck and on the trail.

Get the 1450, the bigger the better. It will be much nicer in your truck and on the trail. Thanks Bob , is it just the screen or memory for tracks or both that is larger ? Randy I like the hard wire kit , that would leave me the 12volt plug for the truck or which ever vehicle I'm in and leave the hard wire in the RZR I don't want wires hanging in the cab .. Is there anything else that I need , or that the unit can do that I need to look into ... I like the Ram mount that Daryl had with his camera and GPS , I just like the way they work unless you guys have any other suggests to look at...

I found the Hard wire cable that Randy suggested pretty cheep( on amazon) .. but the water proof case that I seem to be finding are like hard cases that do not look like what you are describing that you are able to adjust or make tracks thru... I'm finding a price of $119 for the standard GPS , 129 for unlimited maps on the 1450 5 Inch screen ... then its a different price one streets maps .. Any suggestions on maps or streets ?

Just an fyi you can't make tracks with a Nuvi. You can view maps like bob's but if you are planning on actually logging new tracks you are going to have to get something else. The aqua box is a hard case with a flexible screen cover so you can interact with the touch screen. www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-aqua-box-cradle-wide-ram-hol-aq6u.html

Ohh , did not know that you could not track on these ... I know a lot of people are loving Bobs maps on the WVA site ... So you can only follow the preset tracks , or just have a view of where you are ... Can I set like Ashland or Hilltop in ( mark place I know ) so I have a reference ?

Well you can have a trip log while you are riding so you can find your way back. Bob's maps are marked with locations and points of interest so you can select those and it will display what direction that point is in, but its not going to turn by turn the trails or anything.

Nuvi's do track and you can download the tracks to your computer. You have two methods which are the same for all Garmins. 1. Connect the Nuvi to your computer and use the upload feature in MapSource. 2. Connect the Nuvi to your computer and browse to the device and copy the gpx file. Nuvi's mount just like a memory stick.
You cannot load tracks onto a Nuvi, only maps.
There is a free program called "gpx2img" the you can find with Google. In one or two mouse clicks it will convert tracks to a transparent map and load it into MapSource from where you can load it onto your GPSr. The free version has a track limitation but the full blown version only cost $20. It does not have the flexibility of the way I do it but it is good enough for most people.

So the trip log function on the nuvi can actually be downloaded as a track? Learn something new every day.
