Well the weather looked a little dicey, but we made the call to head up to Hilltop on Saturday anyway, and boy am I glad we did. Besides a few stray sprinkles the weather was great and we had an awsome time! Lonnie lead about 10 or 12 of us on a great 55 mile ride over mostly Hatfield McCoy trails including a few nice black trails, a few good mud holes and even an unplanned meet and greet with the local Trail Law....complete with tickets for those lucky few who didn't have passes!

I didnt take many pictures but all of them are here:

http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b136/T....mview=slideshow

I was also playing with the video part of the camera and have a few of those that I'll post later.

That's the first time I have seen a HM Ranger -- let alone tickets... How much is a ticket??? I have a pass but have always wondered.

The funny thing to me is that I did not know that Lonnie even rode the HM trails. He's always seemed like an "outlaw" trail person to me...

I think they said the tickets were $100 each. They said that if you buy a pass and then call the office about the ticket and give them your pass # they will "sometimes" throw the ticket out.

We also had one lucky guy who was due to get a ticket, and then kind of got "lost in the Ranger shuffle" and managed to escape unscathed! :D

Nope...nothing at all. Just asked for the pass's, wrote down the names and numbers and that was it.

One of the younger Rangers was kidding with CJ about how long could he ride a wheelie, how much fun he was having, and then told him to "make sure you listen to Dad and keep the rubber side down". In general I got the impression that they were happy to see the kids riding with the proper gear in a controlled, safe and supervised group.

thats great news, I have heard that they would treat them that way if they were on a proper sized ATV, which the 125 is.

You mean the wrote the names and pass numbers of everyone with passes down? So someone couldn't 'borrow' a pass?

yes they wrote # &name down but didn't ask for id . so you could have lied about your name. unless pass was registered to female name and you were male.

Im working on polishing up my YouTube skills at the moment then I'll post the mud shots.....then it will be clear who in the Killi family is afraid of the mud, and who isnt.! (hint - most of you know I dont like getting dirty! :D )

And btw - there is another story line that needs to be told about Tom, his girlfriend and the mud.....but I'll leave that to someone who was there! 8-)

Great pics and videos, Ken. I especially enjoyed the last one. The boys seemed to have fun. BTW, CJ and Nate are great kids - makes me miss doing this stuff with my son. Ken and Wiley should both be proud of their sons.

I had a great time in WV and could be satisfied riding there almost exclusively. Saturday's ride was a lot of fun and temps were perfect. Sun. a.m., Lonnie, Tom and I went for about a 4-1/2 hour ride on the outlaw trails; chilly morning, but perfectly blue skies and then it warmed up nicely. Colorful foliage. Lonnie did another great job leading - he's a good rider and a great guy - I don't care what you guys say about him ;). Even though Tom won't get muddy but expects women to ;), he's a lot of fun and a good sport. All in all, a great couple of days - can't wait to go back. Thanks to everyone who came! Just remember and let this be a lesson to you rogue riders - buy the HM pass!! You could risk being stopped by a ranger and getting a $100 ticket (or be lucky & get overlooked).

We had a great weekend, decent weather with nice damp trails. I have to give Tom credit he can take a lot of ribbing and not get mad at me ;D and his lady is a true ATV rider. I had a lot of fun with them 2 on Thursday. I added my pictures to the photo bucket album.

LOL...you caught that, huh? I almost waffled him! There's also one spot where we were going down trail...think it was 81, black, and I was filming and didn't realize I couldn't grab the front brake with my left hand....stomped on the foot pedal and did a little wiggly slide for a bit! ;D

Yep, she watched them all. She was fine till CJ told here some story about sliding sideways down a slippery black trail. Thats when I got the "YOU TOOK HIM ON A BLACK TRAIL?!?" and CJ jumped in and said "no mom, not just one, we went on allot of black trails".

After she shot me the evil eye I ran for cover and don't remember much after that! 8-)

Great day to ride, glad we decided to go. Of course there would have been hell to pay if I canceled on Nate 2 weekends in a row! By the end of the day Nate was back to riding at a pretty good pace he was definitely a little skittish to start out but he has never been skert of no mudhole! Thanks to everyone that helped get them unstuck!
